My journey in oil painting over the past few years has been full of study, training, and practice. I thoroughly enjoy creating value and meaning for others, preferring a representational approach to my work with a focus on people in the context of life, work, and play.
Since relocating to Central Oregon from Seattle last year, my primary painting emphasis has been on horses and kids through my volunteer work at Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch…living in the middle of horse country, rodeos, and ranching has provided an endless source of great reference material for my paintings.
Over the past several years I’ve benefited greatly from the study of artists such as Richard Schmid, Tom Browning, Howard Terpning, David Leffel, and Jeffrey Watts. Every painting for me is an experience in learning and stretching, and I find the process to be exhilarating, extremely challenging, and very rewarding.
